Question

To ask the Scottish Government when it expects the analogue systems run by BT and used by the majority of present telecare providers in Scotland to be switched off.

Answer

Ofcom are fully aware and accept that the analogue infrastructure is not sustainable and cannot be supported long term. However, in ongoing discussions with Ofcom, it has been confirmed that there is currently no timetable in place for the replacement programme to commence. The accepted view is that once the replacement programme does commence, it will take between five and ten years to complete across the UK.
