Question

To ask the Scottish Executive how much support has been given to businesses in Dumfries and Galloway by the Small Business Bonus Scheme.

Answer

In the four years since its introduction by this Government, the Small Business Bonus Scheme has reduced business rates taxation for Dumfries and Galloway businesses by a total of £14.8 million.

Across Scotland, small and medium sized enterprises have benefitted to the tune of over £419 million in total over the four financial years from 2008-09 to 2011-12.

These businesses will be up to £3,000 better off this year than their direct competitors over the border in Cumbria.
