Question
To ask the Scottish Government what conditions have been given to local authorities regarding the minimum length of time Spaces for People temporary measures must be kept in place before being evaluated or removed.
Answer
The Scottish Government introduced the Spaces for People programme with the key aim to protect public health during the Covid-19 emergency.
Local schemes are the responsibility of individual local authorities. It is therefore for local authorities to determine the length of time Spaces for People measures should remain in place, and when it is appropriate to undertake evaluation.
The Scottish Government has issued Coronavirus (COVID-19):Guidance on Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders and Notices . This document highlights that Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders enable Spaces for People measures to be in place for a maximum period of 18 months.
