Question
To ask the Scottish Government whether it will provide an update on progress with the termination of the Abellio ScotRail franchise, and when the new ScotRail contract will be put out to tender.
Answer
Transport Scotland officials, with independent support, are carrying out a detailed analysis of all options available under UK legislation to deliver ScotRail services beyond March 2022, when the current Abellio ScotRail contract is expected to come to an end. This analysis will necessarily take account of the full impact of COVID-19 on rail services and wider transport.
