Canongate Primary School Receives School Sports Award

That the Parliament congratulates Canongate Primary School in St Andrews on recently being awarded a Gold School Sports Award by sportscotland; understands that the award recognises the school’s achievements in putting sport at the heart of its planning, practice and ethos; further understands that the school has shown excellent practice across the core areas of the award and demonstrated an ongoing commitment to increasing young people’s opportunities and engagement in physical education, school sport and leadership, and providing clear pathways to life-long participation in sport; commends the work of staff and pupils at Canongate Primary School that has contributed to the award; emphasises the many benefits to children’s physical and mental health that participation in sport can provide, and the importance of encouraging participation from an early age, and welcomes that the school joins three others in north east Fife that have also achieved the School Sports Award, which are Elie Primary School, Falkland Primary School and Madras College.
